Polish – Hungarian friendship has been cultivated on the stands in a special way for many years. At every opportunity the fans greet each other, create the right atmosphere at matches celebrating both nations and fly banners with patriotic slogans.
Every year Katowice hosts the Polish-Hungarian Friendship Chess Tournament. A few hundred players from a dozen or so countries take part in the competition. This is the largest open chess tournament in Poland.
