Visit of students of the Budapest City Diplomacy Academy to the Felczak Institute

2025-06-11

We were delighted to welcome yesterday at the Felczak Institute a group of fifth-year students from the Academy of Urban Diplomacy in Budapest, accompanied by their director, Péter Balázs.

The visit to Warsaw was another stop in their study program, which includes trips to cities that maintain close relations with the Budapest City Hall. After meetings in, among others, Vienna and Bratislava, it was time for the Polish capital.

Director of the Academy, Péter Balázs, presented the educational profile of his institution – focused on urban issues and transnational challenges such as diplomacy, migration, and cross-border crime.
In turn, the Director of the Felczak Institute, Dr. Jakub Wiśniewski, spoke about the mission and activities of our institution, also announcing upcoming initiatives and changes. During the meeting, he invited the students to engage in a conversation, asking for their observations, diagnoses, and recommendations regarding Polish-Hungarian relations.

The discussion addressed both shared challenges and differences in approaches to key political and social issues. Particular attention was given to the role that Poland and Hungary can play in strengthening regional cooperation and European integration. We jointly agreed that dialogue between our societies – especially among the younger generation – is essential for building lasting bonds and mutual understanding.

Director Wiśniewski also emphasized the importance of contact with Hungarian civil society and introduced the students to the scholarship opportunities offered by the Felczak Institute.
We believe that the voice of young, engaged citizens of Poland and Hungary is crucial for the future of our countries and of Europe. It is they who – beyond divisions – recognize the potential for cooperation in areas such as democracy, human rights, and the development of civil society.
