Zbigniew Kuźmiuk, PhD: The undoing of Timmermans’s plans will put an end to the political decisions issued by the CJEU towards Poland
Polityka

Why has Viktor Orbán’s party been unsuspended from its membership of the European People’s Party and what will be the new political framework in Brussels? – Zbigniew Kuźmiuk, PhD, answers these questions.

The MEP provides answers to questions about political reshuffling in Brussels. In his opinion, the question of filling the key EU posts – that of the Presidents of the European Parliament, the Commission, the European Council and the European Central Bank – is still open. The representatives of the Member States will work on their position on this matter at a special meeting.

Although we have been under fire for many months, we are currently in the centre of attention because of what is happening in our economy and our public finances. I think that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will have a lot to say at this meeting.

Poland will also have a crucial role to play. Kuźmiuk believes that the EU Court of Justice will no longer make political decisions in relation to Poland, now that the ambitions of Frans Timmermans were “finally buried”. He notes that until now Fidesz was suspended from the rights of a member of the European People’s Party, but now that this faction is seeking votes, the Hungarians have been unsuspended. Commenting on the changes in faction alliances, Kuźmiuk emphasizes that the European Conservatives and Reformists could potentially “form the largest political right-wing group” together with the faction of Marine Le Pen and Matteo Salvini. However, between these two fractions, there exist significant differences.
